Police say that the number of drunk drivers caught so far this year is up a discouraging 30% over this time last year, with the drivers being caught at all points in the day and night. Interestingly though, the number of deaths is down 45% over this time last year.

OPP have said the vast majority of impaired drivers are caught as a result of other drivers and standers by calling in people who they suspect are impaired. They are hopeful that since they have caught so many drunk drivers that they have averted fatalities on the road. i hope this is the case rather than that people are beginning to think that drunk driving is acceptable again.

Remember that if you are convicted of driving over the limit, or impaired driving that you will lose your licence for a year, carry a criminal charge on your record which may affect your ability to travel outside Canada, get jobs, and will force your insurance rates into the facility pool once you are permitted to drive again.
