Alcohol and Stupidity Often Go Hand in Hand

In the last week the news featured two incidents that highlight how alcohol in excess can lead you to poor decision making. There’s a reason it’s called Impaired Driving.

In the first incident near Windsor a man pulled over to the side of the highway at 10:00 AM and called 911 to report himself. The dispatchers kept him on the phone until the officers arrived on the scene. He was found chatting away on his phone with an open bottle of liquor.

In the second incident near Barrie, someone noticed an intoxicated person getting into their car in a parking lot. He drove a very short distance to the LCBO parking lot where police found him still in his car. The 45 year old man was charged with various alcohol related offences at 1 PM.

In both cases we were fortunate that no one was injured in a car accident or killed by a drunk driver.
