HOV lanes prominent during Pan Am Games.

July 02, 2015, Kitchener, Ontario

Posted by: Robert Deutschmann, Personal Injury Lawyer

The highly-anticipated Pan-Am Games will be soon coming to Toronto on July 10th. With preparation being put into the arrival of athletes from 41 different countries, roadwork has been done which will be affecting drivers.

As of June 29th, 185km of HOV lanes have been added to Ontario roadways. Highway 401 and 405; Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Boulevard and St. Jane (York) will be affected. Please note that highway HOV lanes are used for any Pan-Am Games related-vehicles; from athletes to media. They are also to be used by public transport, emergency vehicles and electric cars that have green license plates. Be aware that having a ticket for the games does not mean you have access to these lanes; from June 29th till July 27th during regular driving hours, to access these lanes you will need at least three-people in your vehicle. Any citizen, from 11pm to 5am, can use the HOV lanes. Violation of any of these rules will result in a $110 fine and 3 demerit points.
