7 Strange Canadian Driving Laws

The Globe and Mail recently published a list of strange driving laws, and things we all thought were laws but aren't. I thought I'd share them with you. I had no idea about #5. Some made me chuckle, others made me shake my head.

  1. Driving barefoot is legal in every jurisdiction in Canada.
  2. You are required to honk your horn when passing another car in PEI.
  3. It is not illegal to cross the solid lines in Ontario while driving unless it is an unsafe situation.
  4. Flashing high beams at other drivers won't make them speed up or go away.
  5. In BC and Yukon Territory a flashing green light IS NOT AN ADVANCED GREEN. It means it's a light controlled by pedestrian crossing.
  6. It is illegal to have any tint at all on the driver and passenger windows in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and PEI.
  7. In most provinces you can get ticketed for texted at a drive-thru window. Ontario and Quebec are the exceptions.

Now you know...
